Let's imagine this:
Year 2100. The temperature on the planet increases more than 9 ° F. On the coast, the sea level rose almost 3 feets. Events like hurricanes are 20 times more recurring. The floods grew 14 times. It's been 50 years since Arctic Ice disappeared from the face of the earth. The Amazon, once considered the lung of the planet, has become a huge plain and is no longer a tropical forest. Mass extinction of species. The reason? The use of fossil fuel-based energy that has transformed the planet. Sounds scary ,right?
Let's go back to the present, where one of the most influential spokespersons of global warming; Famous Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, is right to alert the world about this issues.
In 2016, 96 countries met in France to sign the Paris Treaty, in which they established the following:
a) Keep the global average temperature rise well below 2 ° C from pre-industrial levels (1800), and continue efforts to reduce that temperature rise to 1.5 ° C from pre-industrial levels , recognizing that this reduces the risks and effects of climate change;
b) Increase the ability to adapt to the adverse effects of climate change and promote climate resilience and development with low greenhouse gas emissions, in a way that does not compromise food production;
c) Raise financial flows to a level compatible with a path that leads to climate-resilient development and low greenhouse gas emissions.
By 2018, a study determined that only 16 countries achieved the established goals. In fact, it was concluded that most countries were increasing their CO2 emissions instead of reducing them.
Another study prepared by the UNAM ( Universidad Nacional Autonoma de MExico) determines that the real estate industry is the responsible of 50% of the pollutants emitted into the atmosphere. Why is the percentage so high? Because the manufacturing, transportation, application, construction and operation of the buildings constructed are taken into account.
The use of renewable energies, recycling, less use of cars and plant trees are the most punctual actions to protect ourselves against what we can avoid. It is estimated that by 2100 the world population will exceed 11 billion, which, if we take it to current levels, would imply more than 50% of the current emissions.
At INMEX one of our core values is the use and application of practical and efficient sustainable technologies in our projects. At Maki, thanks to natural filter systems and reuse of water captured by rain, we will achieve a 70% increase in its efficiency. We will motivate the use of solar panels in our projects, in addition to other effective and practical alternatives to improve the standard in the industry to which we belong. We dream about a world where coexistence between mother nature and human beings is not just a dream, but a reality, and we believe that apply sustainable not just as a marketing strategy, but a way of living. Whats does your future looks like?
